Become a Histology Technician / Assistant

This program will introduce students to the professional requirements of a histology assistant. Histology assistants typically work in hospitals, clinics, and laboratories assisting histologists and pathologists to prepare and analyze patient tissue specimens in order to diagnose and treat diseases. This program will review human anatomy emphasizing the recognition, composition, and function of organ systems including skeletal, nervous, circulatory, endocrine, and reproductive system tissues. Students will also review histotechniques including tissue processing as well as receive an introduction to basic theories and practices of histotechnology including laboratory safety, fixation, routine staining, and operation and maintenance of lab equipment.
